Cara Christanell, APRN-CNP

Cara Christanell's expertise is general pediatrics, child sexual abuse, and adolescent medicine. She provides assessment of suspected child maltreatment that includes physical and sexual abuse, and child neglect. She also specializes in triage and crisis intervention, and counseling recommendations.

She is interested in research into the use of depression screening tools within the Sexual Abuse Management (SAM) clinic as well as follow-up counseling within the clinic setting.

Christanell serves as a nurse practitioner in the Department of Pediatrics, Division of Child Protection, at Saint Louis University School of Medicine.

Memberships include the Child Maltreatment & Neglect Special Interest Group of the National Association of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners. She is also a multidisciplinary team member for The Children's Advocacy Services of Greater St. Louis.

In her spare time, Christanell enjoys the outdoors.
