Dr. Helen Pappa treats conditions of the digestive tract, liver and pancreas, including: abdominal pain; Barrett's esophagus; colitis; Crohn's disease; cirrhosis; colorectal cancer and disorders; diabetes; diverticulitis and diverticulosis; gallbladder diseases; hernias; and gastrointestinal disease.
Dr. Pappa uses evidence-based medicine in her treatment of patients. Her research interests include improving care for patients with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), and growth and bone health in patients with IBD.
Dr. Pappa is an associate professor in the Department of Pediatrics, Division of Gastroenterology, at Saint Louis University School of Medicine. She also holds a master's degree in public health from Harvard.
She is a member of the American Gastroenterological Association, the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation (CCF), and the North American Society for Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition. She is on the pediatric advisory committee of the CCF.
Dr. Pappa is the parent of a disabled child and is an advocate for children with disabilities.
