Carlos Portales Castillo, MD

Dr. Carlos Portales Castillo is an infectious disease specialist who provides consultations - both inpatient and outpatient - for patients ages 18 and older. Some of the infectious diseases he has treated include actinomycosis, osteomyelitis, and Lyme disease. He also specializes in transplant infectious diseases.

Dr. Portales Castillo provides the best, most up-to-date, evidence-based care for patients, particularly those with complicated infections and compromised immune systems. His clinical and research interests include infections in immunocompromised hosts; antimicrobial stewardship/infection control in transplant; cytomegalovirus (CMV) infection; and head and neck infections.

Dr. Portales Castillo is an assistant professor with the Division of Infectious Diseases, Allergy & Immunology in the Department of Internal Medicine at Saint Louis University School of Medicine. He is also a member of the Infectious Disease Society of America and the American College of Physicians.
