Dr. Alejandro Mendez-Castillo is an interventional radiologist, a specialist in minimal invasive techniques using image guidance. His areas of expertise include endovascular therapies for peripheral arterial and venous diseases; interventional oncology procedures such as thermal ablation of either benign or malignant tumors in different organs including lung, liver, kidney and bone; chemoembolization and radioembolization of liver tumors; and treatment of spine compression fractures using vertebroplasty/kyphoplasty techniques.
In his practice, Dr. Mendez-Castillo uses multiplanar CT guidance to target lesions anywhere in the body for therapeutic and/or diagnostic procedures, reducing treatment time and increasing accuracy.
Dr. Mendez-Castillo is an assistant professor in the Department of Radiology, section of Vascular and Interventional Radiology, at Saint Louis University School of Medicine.
